Description
General Information:
Podophyllum is a plant whose root and underground stem (rhizome) are used medicinally. Podophyllotoxin, a chemical extracted from podophyllum, has largely replaced podophyllum due to its higher effectiveness and lower toxicity.
Mechanism of Action:
Podophyllin is a cytotoxic agent that arrests mitosis in metaphase, preventing cell duplication and new growth. Its active component, podophyllotoxin, effectively targets and destroys wart tissue.
Pharmacological Action:
Podophyllin stops cell duplication and new growth in the treated area.
Indications:
Podophyllotoxin cream is used for:

Removal of corns and warts (including plantar warts)

Treatment of sexually transmitted (venereal) warts

Intravaginal use for gynecologic infections (under medical supervision)
Dosage:

Use as directed by the physician.
Caution:

Highly poisonous if taken by mouth.

Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Store between 8°C to 25°C.
